About the Journal:

Okay. A little background. For several years now we've been traveling all over the greener pastures of southwestern Indiana to view shows, practices, camps, and other miscellaneous events associated with the wonderful activities this site promotes.

That's the good part =) The other part is that during these treks we encounter the most interesting things. This includes people, places, and things (for you School House Rock fans: those are nouns).

This feature, which is near and dear to somewhere just to the left of our hearts, is the account of the experience, the excitement, the thrill, the outright amazement that we ourselves experience relative to each and every outing.

We hope you can enjoy it as much as we do.

Sincerely,
Tim & Scott

The Journal...

Welcome to the thing that makes you wonder why you bother to visit this site - a little feature we like to call The Contest Journal.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we got a late start to the show. Despite this, I tried to make up for lost time. Fortunately I recently read Tim's latest book entitled Get Behind Me and Stay There!

Tim is a master of motorway. Years of navigating through rush hour traffic and countless construction projects on the Lloyd Expressway in Evansville have turned him into a driving expert, the likes of which few people have seen in this area. For instance did you know the shoulder can be used as a lane? It's true! On page 24, Tim explains that "if you look like you are supposed to be there, no one will know the difference!" You can also learn other tricks like getting through tight spaces by driving on two wheels, and how to use hypnosis to convince the police officer who pulled you over that you really wasn't speeding. Tim demonstrates his technique in the photo below.

As always, music is crucial to set the mood of the day. It had been a pretty stressful week for the both of us and we needed something to get us ready for the show, but also to lighten the mood. There is only one album that can do that. Los del Rio - Live at Red Rocks!! This double CD is a 127 minute medley of Los del Rio's greatest hit: "Macarena." Included in the montage of Macarena versions were crowd favorites like "Macarena," "Macarena Part II," and "Macarena and Cheese!"

The album was complete auditory euphoria and was exactly what the doctor ordered to get us ready for the show.

We got to the show just in time to shoot Class B, which we did. At the conclusion of Class B, we walked back to the concession stand to grab a couple burgers and something to drink. Unfortunately we only had $40 cash between us so Tim had to write a check for the meal.

When we got back in the car to go home, we picked up right where we left off with Los del Rio. We stopped at Subway in Huntingburg to grab a bite to eat. While waiting for our sandwiches, we danced the Macarena to the delight of the store staff.

We got back to Evansville, then I dropped Tim off at his house and I headed home myself. When I got home I had to answer a bunch of email and I had to start working on formatting photos from the show. Before I knew it, it was 2:00am and I was exhausted. Sleepy time for Scottman!

We had a great time at the show! Hopefully we'll have an equally fun time at Pike Central and South Spencer on October 11. Tune in next week for another installment of The Contest Journal!
