Each school's band is assigned to a class based upon the school's enrollment in grades 9-12 from the previous year.
The following are the ranges with which each school's program is
categorized into their respective "ISSMA Class":

Non-ISSMA contests often do not follow the ISSMA classification in grouping participating
bands for their contests, which is why you will often see Class A/AA/AAA/AAAA. Some
contests use the A/B/C/D grouping, but the bands are usually grouped by size rather
than their ISSMA classifications.
